LOST PROPERTY.

In order to increase the usefulness of our journal, we have deter

mined to add yet another feature to it-viz., a simple means of
notifying the loss or finding and recovery of property. Thus, in
the case of property lost, the fact may be advertised in our paper
in a column set apart for that purpose, at a cost of 1d. for every
four words, and we will, if desired, receive the article when found,
In the latter case the
and pay any reward that may be offered.
reward must be deposited with us at the time of sending the adver-
tisement. We will return this money when called upon by the
depositor to do so, if we should not have already paid it according
to previous instructions. In the case of property found, two
courses are open. First, it can be advertised by the finder at his
own cost, and upon his own responsibility; or, secondly, he can
leave the article with us, and have no further trouble in the matter.
We will advertise it until it is claimed or until its estimated value
is expended, when, in the first case, it will be returned to the
owner upon payment of expenses, or, in the second case, it will be
sold to pay expenses. Neither upon our own behalf nor upon that
of others can we receive any reward that may be offered. Those
who wish to receive payment for returning lost property to the
owner must carry out the transaction without more of our assist-
ance than the insertion by us of their advertisements will give
them.
