Front Cover
Research Services Branch, Department of Education (Qld.), 1985 - Reading teachers - 39 pages
This report documents Queensland's involvement, to mid 1985, in the National Early Literacy In Service Course (ELIC) Project, a cooperative teacher development program for P - 3 teachers, partially funded by the Curriculum Development Centre and Commonwealth Schools Commission. ELIC involves an innovative approach to the professional development of those involved in teaching young children in their early years of schooling. It is a multi media course of 10 weeks duration which enables groups of teachers to study current theories about literacy development, see examples of excellent teaching practices and explore ways of relating ideas to their own classrooms. Essentially, the purpose of this interim report is to inform the National ELIC Management Committee and National Evaluator of the progress being made in implementing and evaluating the course in Queensland.
