Australia's schools are much criticised by students, parents and employers. Despite significant increases in educational expenditure, satisfaction with performance has declined. Governments have responded to this discontent with a range of reforms. This book explains why these reforms have failed to end criticism of the education system - because it is dominated by producers rather than consumers, and heavily regulated. The author proposes a reform program that does deal with education's fundamental problems, though a system of charter schools.
