Elissa is a parent and resident of the Dandenong Ranges. She managed communications for several non-profit organisations, both in Australia and overseas, before joining the federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations as a Media Manager. She then became an adviser to Australian Government Ministers and Senators, before leaving paid work to start her family. Elissa holds a Combined Honours degree from the University of Melbourne in Anthropology and Writing.
