Dancing in the Firelight
Chris Kilham's story is remarkable in so many ways. She did not let physical limitations, the isolation of the Australian Outback, or cultural barriers stop her serving her Indigenous friends and the community of Aurukun with passion. When applying to Wycliffe her medical report notes: "that she has a marked pelvic tilt and her right leg is short and that these deformities would seem to be a marked handicap. However the doctor on seeing her strength of character and determination concluded, I consider her fit for tribal work." Chris's story is marked by courage, faith, passion, academic achievement and great respect and love for her Indigenous colleagues as together they translated the Wik Mungkan New Testament.
