Intended as a guide for students, this booklet gives current information on types of careers, the availability of jobs, and the academic training and skills associated with particular jobs in political science. Students are given a brief overview of some of the career choices that have appealed to those who have majored in political science. Several careers are described, and suggestions about useful skills for each are given, as well as indications about job market projections over a span of several years. Sections cover selected careers in law, the federal government, state and local government, interest groups and associations, international organizations, business, journalism, pre-collegiate education, and political science itself (primarily academic). A final section briefly discusses the uses of political science training at the a vocational level. (AS)
