Drawing on the National Museum of Australia's rich collection of Herbert Basedow's photographic work--which largely documented the anthropologist, geologist, and medical doctor's 20th-century expeditions into central and northern Australia--this volume's revealing, sometimes confronting images provide a fascinating historical record of the people, places, and lifestyles he encountered in remote Australia in the early 1900s.
