About the author (2009)

In 1996, Neil Humphreys turned down a chance to become Dagenham's answer to Nick Leeson. The young Brit rejected a London stockbroker's lucrative offer to train as a floor trader and decided to travel the world instead. He ended up in Singapore and settled in Toa Payoh. In 2001, with his first book Notes From An Even Smaller Island, he became one of the country's best-selling authors. In 2003, he came up with Scribbles From The Same Island and 2006 saw the completion of the trilogy with Final Notes From A Great Island. Having run out of ways to squeeze 'island' into a book title, Humphreys moved to Geelong, Australia. He now writes for several magazines and newspapers in Singapore and Australia and spends his weekends happily looking for echidnas and platypuses, and now looking after his baby daughter.
