The River Flows: A History of Mannum on the River Murray This copiously illustrated history of Mannum, South Australia, provides information about the Aboriginal inhabitants of the area, the first European settlers, the development of Mannum as a port town, reclaiming swamps, farming and industry in the region, the impact of new forms of transport, social life and tourism. Includes a chronology, statistical data, references, a bibliography and an index. The author runs a historical consultancy. His other publications include 'A Diverse Land' which won a prize in the ABC Bicentennial Literary Awards, 1988, and 'Nature's Pilgrim', which won the inaugural Lysbeth Cohen Memorial prize for biography in 1990. |
