About the author (1995)

María Cristina Brusca grew up on a ranch on the pampas of Argentina, where she rode a caballo and met many vaqueros. She has written and illustrated many picture books, including On the Pampas and My Mama's Little Ranch on the Pampas.

Tona Wilson is a teacher of Spanish and English as a Second Language. Together, she and Cristina have retold many folktales form South America, including The Cook and the King.

Tony and Cristina live in Port Ewen, New York.
