About the author (2001)

YUSEF KOMUNYAKAA is Professor in the Council of Humanities and Creative Writing at Princeton University and a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. He has won many awards for poetic achievement, including the 2001 Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, the Hanes Poetry Prize, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award, the Levinson Prize from Poetry Magazine, the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and the Morton Dauwen Zabel Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
