About the author (1995)

Henckel is an avid elk hunter in both the archery and rifle seasons. He has worked as the outdoor editor of The Billings Gazette for the past twenty years.

Michael H. Francis, trained as a wildlife biologist, is a wildlife photographer whose work has been internationally recognized for its beautiful, informative imagery. Mike's work has been published by the National Geographic Society, The Audubon Society, The National Wildlife Federation; and such magazines as Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and Sports Afield. He is the sole photographer for 26 books and guides nature photography expeditions. The past president of the North American Nature Photography Association, Mike lives in Billings, Montana.
