About the author (2012)

Stephen Fishman is the author of many Nolo books, including Tax Deductions for Professionals, Deduct It! Lower Your Small Business Taxes, Every Landlord's Tax Deduction Guide and Home Business Tax Deductions plus many other legal and business books. He received his law degree from the University of Southern California. After time in government and private practice, he became a full-time legal writer.

Ronald J. Barrett is the Vice President of Nonprofit Services at National Corporate Research, Ltd., where he developed and continually fine tunes a comprehensive suite of services for nonprofits, including charitable registration, corporate compliance and management of sales tax exemptions. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience working with nonprofits, state charities regulators and state sales tax exemption filing offices. He has authored numerous articles and presents public and in-house CLE seminars on state charitable registration requirements around the country.
