Alan Tait, one of the most multi-faceted sportsmen of his generation, made sporting history in 1997 when, after spending 8 years in the north of England with Widnes and Leeds, he became the first former professional rugby player to return to Scottish international rugby union. Besides playing for Scotland the British Lions Test team, Alan Tait represented Great Britain at rugby league on 12 occasions and came within inches of notching the winning try in a World Cup final against Australia.
