Challenging widespread assumptions that persons who are preferentially attracted to minors—often referred to as "pedophiles"—are necessarily also predators and sex offenders, this book takes readers into the lives of non-offending minor-attracted persons (MAPs). There is little research into non-offending MAPs, a group whose experiences offer valuable insights into the prevention of child abuse. Navigating guilt, shame, and fear, this universally maligned group demonstrates remarkable resilience and commitment to living without offending and to supporting and educating others. Using data from interview-based research, A Long, Dark Shadow offers a crucial account of the lived experiences of this hidden population.

Changing the terminology doesn't make the behaviour of those that have committed acts of sexual abuse on children any less vile and wrong. People who haven't committed such acts and are attracted to minors who are mindfully aware they need to seek help before preying on children to fuel thier carnal desires aren't paedophiles, they know they need help and hopefully willing to seek it and aid with the problem. A person isn't labelled a murderer until they've committed the crime... Changing the terminology doesn't change the crime, it sounds like you're trying to cover up and protect those that do have an ill sexual inclination. Personally think your history, laptop, personal files etc need to be properly explored to dig deep in to your real agenda, sounds like a front to me.

Much needed information about a forcefully suppressed topic. Disgust is not a valid reason to hate or hide truths.
