Primitive Christian EschatologyOriginally published in 1912, this volume was based upon the Cambridge University Hulsean Prize essay for the year 1908. Revised throughout before publication, the text consists of a detailed exploration of Christian eschatology from its Old Testament origins onward. Written at a time when the eschatological aspects of religion had in many ways been discredited by the rise of scientific rationalism, it also constitutes an attempt to give credence to the position of eschatology as an abiding theological problem. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in the development of Christianity and the history of theology. |
