Contends that antisemitism is a purely European and Christian phenomenon, and that it did not exist in the Arab world before the infiltration of Europeans into the Middle East in the 19th century. Ascribes the abrupt deterioration of Arab-Jewish relations in the 20th century to Zionist activities, especially the Jewish colonization of Palestine, and to Zionist propaganda. Ch. 7 (p. 155-181), "The Violent Years", discusses attacks against Jews in the Muslim world in the 1940s - the pogrom of 1941 in Baghdad, and unrest in North Africa, Syria, Egypt, and Yemen.
