About the author (1999)

Roy Calderwood has both a great love of islands and an avid interest in transport. They merge to form the subject of his first book, Times subject to Tides. Born in Hawick in 1953, he now lives and works in Edinburgh where he is employed by an international business travel agency. However, he has been known to be at his happiest while on a Hebridean beach.
