A catalog of Lakota Indian artifacts obtained by the Czech patriot, traveller, and progressive Vojta Náprstek during a visit to the Lakota peoples living in the Minnesota River region in 1856. The text volume includes introductory essays about Lakota Indians, Náprstek and his time in America, and the origins of the collection, as well as excerpts from Náprstek's travel diary and the text of a lecture about the Lakota people prepared for a German audience in Milwaukee.
