Joana Vasconcelos (born 1971) is perhaps the most prominent Portuguese artist of her generation, internationally known for her participation in the 2005 Venice Biennale and her exhibition at the Palace of Versailles in 2010.

Vasconcelos uses a range of unusual materials in her work, from household appliances to tiles, fabric, medicines, toilets, pots, plastic cutlery, electric lights and much more, to create sculptures and installations that stand out for their large scale, colorfulness and exuberance, and which draw inspiration from her country's popular culture and from current theoretical debates in contemporary art about viewer participation. A comprehensive midcareer survey, Joana Vasconcelos: I'm Your Mirror brings together 30 of the artist's sculptures and installations, including new works devised for the artist's exhibition at the Guggenheim Bilbao, and texts that delve into the artist's oeuvre.
